Free-Standing Garden Hose Hanger with Faucet

Water Whenever and Wherever You Need it, Without a Plumber

When I owned an old house - a really old house - I had many a chance to wish a curse on some of the house's Previous Owners. PO is a sort of a curse word among those whose houses were built before the War (as for the great, formerly white elephant on the edge of the prairie, that would be the Spanish-American War). What did the do this time? Well, there was a hose bib at the back of the house, but the PO built a deck there, with the hose bib still in place under the floor. you could just barely reach it though a basement window without dislocating a shoulder, but it was  the only place to can attach a hose that would reach the garden! Hmmmm: a quandary.

could have hired a plumber to run water out to the barn, the garage, or even the  middle of the yard. But then I saw a free-standing hose hanger with a faucet at the BigBox, and that's how I ended up with a  Free-Standing Hose Hanger sitting just off the deck: a great idea!

All this is is a hollow square steel post about 1" on a side and 42" tall. About 18" inches from the top there's a brass female hose connector on one the back connects straight to a brass faucet on the front. Both accept the standard garden hose. There's also a hose hanger on the top front.

It's simple to install: pick a spot where you regularly need water, and set the pole in concrete or slip it onto a steel T fencepost. There's a line for the optimum burial depth marked on the upright. Hook up a garden hose between your water supply and the stand and turn on the water at the source. You can leave it on, too. Now there's a faucet right where you need it. In winter you can disconnect the hose and leave the powder-coated, rust-resistant stand in place. Once spring rolls around again, all you need do is check the washers and hook up the hose again.

I placed mine so I could run a hose out to the garden or into the back yard for washing dogs and filling their little pool. You might place yours near a potting shed or stable, or just at the opposite end of a large yard. About the only limitation with this baby hose length and whether or not your dogs chew the hose. Ours withstood four Midwestern winters before we sold the house, and still showed no rust or wear. The hanger was still solid as ever. I had to replace the washer every year, but the brass bib was like new.

This Free-Standing Hose Hanger with Faucet is a great solution for people in rentals,  a short-term irrigation project, or any place that you need water occasionally but not often enough to hire a plumber.

Summary

PLUS: a semi-permanent water supply right when and where you need it
MINUS: none
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: If you need water at the same place on a regular basis, here's an alternative solution to hiring a plumber.
